Graeme Ellis

Graeme is a Fellow of the IChemE with 4 decades of experience in the major hazards process industry, working globally across Chemicals, Oil & Gas, Pharmaceuticals and Power Utility sectors. Starting as a Process Engineer with major contractor MW Kellogg, he moved into the Chemicals sector with Hercules and Anchor before moving into a Production technical role with ICI Acrylics, where he trained in hazard studies/risk assessment. Graeme joined ICI Eutech (latterly ABB Consulting) in the early 1990s and developed into a Principal Process Safety Consultant over a 24-year span. The work included consultancy and training across all sectors, extending to PSM system implementation and auditing. He was a member of the ‘expert panel’ that developed the Cogent training standards for Process Safety, and became an approved tutor for these courses with delegates up to company Board level. He joined speciality chemicals company Johnson Matthey in 2018 as Global Head of Process Safety, implementing a program to improve performance through targeted initiatives including a major competency improvement programme.
