This is very much a ‘hands-on’ role and, under supervision, your responsibilities will include:

  • following high-level safety systems, including Permit to Work
  • assisting in the start-up, operation and shut-down of plant systems
  • monitoring, inspecting and controlling plant conditions to ensure plant systems and processes are operating within operational parameters, making adjustments to maximise plant efficiency, minimise cost, meet environmental compliance and ensure product specification
  • resolving and reporting, or escalating, process, quality, health and safety, environment, and operating environment issues when operating out of normal parameters
  • working alongside the plant engineering and maintenance department to conduct first line routine maintenance and testing of process and plant equipment
  • conducting handover responsibilities – receiving information from or providing information to other shifts or maintenance teams
  • completing process documentation
  • supporting site projects and audits, and contributing to the development and improvement of procedures and policies covering site operational and maintenance activities.

This is an exciting time, and a fantastic opportunity, to embark on a hands-on career with px Group, a leading global company within the industrial sciences sector.

px group provides innovative operations management, engineering services and energy management solutions to high hazard, highly regulated industries.

Px Group is responsible for processing around 30% of the UK’s gas supply and operates many of the UK’s strategic sites on behalf of its clients, including gas terminals, power plants, renewables and chemicals sites.

In 2013, whilst under construction, px Group was awarded a long-term contract to operate and maintain the Beckton Combined Heat and Intelligent Power Plant (CHiP) on behalf of the owner Beckton Energy Limited (BEL).

  • The plant is a bioliquid fuelled power station, capable of producing 130GWh of renewable electricity a year.
  • The plant uses bioliquid fuels classified as renewable and sustainable such as tallow, used cooking oil soya oil and rapeseed oil to power a marine diesel engine.
  • The Beckton CHiP plant is designed to have an overall world-leading electrical efficiency of more than 55%, and export up to 17MW of electricity.
  • Renewable waste heat from the plant is used in the adjacent gas pressure reduction station owned by Cadent, enabling it to reduce the use of its existing gas heaters and let down the gas pressure for distribution.
  • Selective Catalytic Reactor (SRC Technology)
