The Process Safety Management for Operations (PSMO) – Licence to Train programme enables organisations to build and sustain internal capability in process safety training across their operational workforce. Designed for high-hazard industries, the programme equips approved trainers with the knowledge, confidence, and structured materials required to deliver consistent, high-impact process safety training aligned to industry training standards and recognised as best practice by the HSE.
By embedding PSMO internally, organisations strengthen operational discipline, reinforce critical control awareness, and ensure process safety expectations are understood at every level. The programme supports regulatory compliance, improves workforce competence, and helps create a safer, more resilient operating environment.
By completing the PSMO – Licence to Train programme, approved trainers will gain the knowledge, confidence, and resources required to deliver Process Safety Management for Operations training within their organisation.
Participants will learn how to:
• Deliver the PSMO training programme using structured materials and recognised good practice
• Explain major accident hazards and the importance of effective process safety management in operational environments
• Communicate the role of critical controls and operational discipline in preventing major incidents
• Facilitate engaging training sessions that reinforce process safety responsibilities for frontline teams
• Support the consistent rollout of PSMO training across sites, teams, and operational functions
Successful completion enables trainers to deliver licensed PSMO training internally, helping organisations embed process safety knowledge across their workforce.
