Science Industry Partnership celebrates 1000th Ambassador

The milestone was reached with the latest group of ambassadors trained at Victrex in Lancashire, where they were joined by staff from nearby employers AGC Chemicals Europe and Addison Project.

SIP Ambassadors are specially trained to conduct careers outreach, engaging the next generation of talent about the wide variety of careers available in science-based employers.

Working with young people, parents, teachers and careers advisers, Ambassadors present the science based industries in a positive light, dispelling unhelpful myths and stereotypes.

Participants in the training were very positive about the experience and how it will help their in their careers outreach – one said it was a “a really valuable confidence booster and it also makes me more confident having tried and tested resources to rely on”.

Another said the session was “informative, well-structured, empowering and friendly – I gained a lot from it”.

In recent weeks, staff from a number of other companies – including global life science employers AstraZeneca and GSK – have received ambassador training.
