Individual employers will set the selection criteria for their Apprenticeships

Working at the forefront of development and technology, Level 3 Laboratory Technicians carry out routine and one-off testing or sampling. They proactively find solutions to problems and ways to improve their work and the wider business. The standard is made up of occupational duties as well as knowledge, skills and behaviours.

Typically, roles are referred to as Laboratory Assistant or Laboratory Technician and might reference the department or sector the apprentice works in, such as Quality, School or Chemical.

The training period will last approximately 24 months, where the learning is focused on ensuring the apprentice acquires the knowledge, skills and behaviours as well as achieving level 2 English and maths prior to end-point assessment.

Knowing that your apprentice is on track is important and that is why SIAS offers its highly regarded Tracker document and Competence Evaluation Log that gives both the apprentice and employer confidence as the learning progresses.

Guidance materials and individual support for training providers, apprentices and employers are provided throughout the on-programme learning. We also deliver a number of events and webinars to advise and guide across the range of apprenticeships we assess.
