Adam Powell, Cogent Skills and AstraZeneca apprentice wins Higher Apprentice of the Year at The School Leaver Awards 2020
The School Leaver Awards have been celebrating the achievements of employers, training providers and apprentices since 2013. Despite being unable to celebrate in person this year the awards saw the highest amount of entries to date.
Adam spoke to us about winning the Higher Apprentice of the Year award and his experience so far as an apprentice, hosted at world leading biopharmaceutical company AstraZeneca.
I feel truly honoured to be named Higher Apprentice of the Year 2020 in The School Leaver Awards. A huge thank you to my team at AstraZeneca for supporting and guiding me – I couldn’t be more grateful!
My apprenticeship at AstraZeneca has provided me with a dynamic learning environment and a supportive team which has helped to build my confidence and drive my development of scientific knowledge and technical skills. Receiving the Higher Apprentice of the Year Award has been one of the highlights and demonstrates the real impact apprentices have on their organisation. My understanding of the science, technology and processes involved in the pharmaceutical industry has advanced enormously compared to when I first started and I’m very excited to seize future opportunities to continue to learn and progress both personally and professionally.
In the short time Adam has been in the team he has made a huge impact and demonstrated a focus and determination to inspire others. He supports his teammates and can be relied upon to support and deliver critical activities. In addition to the impact Adam has made at AstraZeneca he has continued to excel in his academic studies which is a testament to his drive and determination.
Aled Charles, AstraZeneca
