Meet the Team: Kathren Matthews

Meet Kathren Matthews who is the Sales Manager in the Membership & Business Strategy Unit, supporting the Science Industry Partnership

What does your role involve?

My role involves account managing existing SIP members as well as seeking out new businesses across the sector who we can support with their current and future skills agendas.

What did you do before you joined Cogent Skills?

I worked in the education sector on apprenticeships, NVQ’s and commercial courses. Before that I worked in the oil and gas industry.

What does a typical day look like?

Every day is different but generally I am either out and about visiting existing members or in the office scouting for potential new SIP clients to target.

What has been your most enjoyable experience at Cogent Skills?

Since I joined I’ve really enjoying bonding with my work colleagues, who have all been very welcoming as I settle in.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Understanding all of the different elements of SIP!

What are you looking forward to working on in the year ahead?

There’s lot to look forward to, but in particular continuing to build a rapport with existing clients and expanding the SIP board members.

How do you spend your time outside work?

In my spare time I love to go hiking, swimming and exploring new cities. I also like to game, read, cook and train at the gym.
