Qualification Requirements
- 5 GCSEs at grades C/4 or above (or equivalent qualifications) including; minimum grade 5 Mathematics and minimum grade 4 English Language
Plus:
- BBB-BBC at A-Level, with B in Maths. A Statistics qualification in addition would be preferable. (We will not accept A-Levels Citizenship Skills, General Studies, and Critical Thinking). OR;
- Level 4 Data Analyst apprenticeship at Distinction
Salary – £20,000 per annum

Department Overview: Pfizer UK Access & Value
The UK A&V team are a team of patient focused, data and evidence-driven experts. Our motivation is to ensure that patients in the UK can benefit from new medicines and vaccines as quickly as possible, that the medicines and vaccines represent good value for money for the NHS and that innovation is appropriately valued so that Pfizer can continue to invest in innovations of the future.
We collaborate closely with organisations responsible for assessing the value of our medicines and vaccines, such as the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). Our team engages with various teams across the UK and globally within Pfizer, participating from very early clinical trial stages right through until the medicine or vaccine launches to ensure that UK patients can access our breakthrough medicines and vaccines.
What can I achieve and what will I be accountable for whilst completing this apprenticeship?
The A&V Apprentice will play a pivotal role in enhancing operational efficiency within the team by maintaining dashboards and databases, triaging communications and ensuring signoff and archiving of materials. The apprentice will learn to track metrics and insights to inform decision makers and present them in appealing and meaningful ways. Over time, the A&V apprentice will gain experience in programming languages and online tools to automate traditionally manual tasks, leveraging AI and machine learning techniques to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
Candidates should be adept at juggling multiple projects and have a talent for translating data outputs into compelling narratives and actionable insights. They must be able to work autonomously while taking responsibility for the quality and accuracy of their work, all within a collaborative team environment that values, support and knowledge sharing. The apprenticeship will begin with foundational training in health economics, essential for understanding the value assessment of medicines and vaccines through Health Technology Assessments (HTA). The apprentice will then explore existing online tools for sourcing, accessing, manipulating, and interpreting datasets, with the expectation of enhancing these tools and applying them to conduct their own analytics.
At the end of the Apprenticeship, the Apprentice will be able to:
- Maintain databases and create dashboards and metrics to effectively showcase the team’s output.
- Developed project management skills and capabilities to manage process improvement activities
- Design and implement updates to current tools, whilst exploring innovative ways to enhance work practices through machine learning and artificial intelligence, driving efficiency and accuracy in data handling
- Conduct analytics and build metrics and scorecards that reflect the team’s value, utilizing AI techniques to derive deeper insights Understand the business environment in which the company operates, including their personal role within the organisation, ethical practice, and codes of conduct
- Work compliantly by following appropriate standard operating procedures whilst also identifying and addressing data biases, particularly in AI-driven analyses
- Work autonomously and present the results of their work and problem solving clearly and concisely in written and oral forms
- Employ creative thinking and problem solving to challenge assumptions, innovate, propose new ideas and build on existing concepts, particularly in the context of AI applications
- Communicate effectively using a full range of skills, including speaking to both scientific and non-scientific audiences, active listening, professional writing, body language and scientific presentation
- Demonstrate reliability, integrity and respect for confidentiality on work related and personal matters, including appropriate use of social media and information system
