Process Safety Management for Operations (PSMO)

The PSMO in-house course has been designed to provide essential process safety training to the industry standard to your employees. It is delivered by a Cogent Assured Training Provider who is an expert in Process Safety.

Before starting the PSM training, the companies focus was on the shift from personal safety to process safety. Following the training we have improved our process safety culture and performance through enhancing personal safety with process safety. Cogent played a central role throughout, and the fact the programme is developed by peer companies is very valuable. The participants noted it was the most relevant training they had ever been on.

About the Course

In this course, participants will focus on site specific hazards and control measures
and how they apply to them, and demonstrate how they contribute to keeping the site safe.

This course has been specifically designed to provide your operators, maintenance technicians and long-term contractors with a clear understanding of the principles of process safety in the context of the site they work on.

How is it delivered?

A Cogent Assured Training Provider will deliver PSMO on your site or at a location chosen by you. Ahead of the training, a site visit is carried out by the delivery partner to establish an understanding of your major accident hazards and risks.

They will consult with you to contextualise the PSMO training content to bring the process safety message closer to home, and raise awareness to emphasise how your personnel make an essential contribution to the safe management of the major accident hazards on your site.

The training then takes place over a two-day period with a maximum of 12 delegates per course. Certification is awarded after the successful completion of the online assessment. All delegates will be given exclusive access to a suite of video case studies designed to reinforce the learning for up to three years.
