About the programme
UCB are committed to the development of early talent, investing in both Apprenticeship, Industrial Placements and Graduates. Over the years, UCB has developed and grown these initiatives providing opportunities for students and graduates across many business functions such as laboratory roles in both biology and chemistry, HR and statistics.
UCB partner with Cogent skills to recruit, manage and deliver their early talent programme in the UK.
How the programme works
UCB support apprenticeships across multiple business functions vary in duration from 1 – 5 years. There are a range of apprenticeships in HR, statistics and project management, however the majority of apprenticeships fall under the Level 6 Laboratory Scientist 5 year apprenticeship. You will work in UCB for 4 days a week, gaining skills in the workplace, required by the job role. You will be working on live projects and contributing to making patients lives better from a very early stage.
1 day a week will be your study day. This time is for you to complete coursework requirements. In most cases this study time is done remotely, from home, but may vary dependant on the apprenticeship you are completing.
How you will be supported
UCB are advocates for the apprenticeship programme having invested in apprentices for over 10 years. As an apprentice, you will have a line manager who you will have regular contact with and guidance. UCB holds monthly apprentice and student meetings, providing a valuable opportunity to meet apprentices and students from different teams, get support and learn about other areas of the business.
UCB offers a wealth of expertise and experience. As an apprentice or student you will have the chance to network and talk with experts in your area, to grow your own knowledge. You will be part of a larger apprenticeship and student community who are at various stages of their learning journey. These communities are a great resource for advice and support based on their experiences at UCB, helping you grow both personally and professionally.
You will have regular progress reviews with Cogent and your line manager to ensure you are managing with your workload and progressing with your course work. This feedback loop will help keep you on track and provide guidance to navigate your journey.
We continue to grow the apprenticeship community across a number of our business functions including HR, Statistics and Laboratory (Chemistry and Biological sciences).
The placement offering covers a wide range of areas within the business. There are a number of roles which support the goals of the business. These range from laboratory-based roles in either Biology or Chemistry to statistical and human resources.
