Company also highly commended among Best Places to Work for Women
Cogent Skills has been recognised as one of the best places to work in the UK for the second consecutive year.
The Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2025 celebrates employers who score highly in a number of areas, including happiness, pride and wellbeing among their employees.
The nationwide scheme only recognises those with the highest ratings – and Cogent Skills has been named as one of the best medium-sized employers in the country for the second year running.
Employing 110 people at offices in Warrington and Newton Aycliffe, Cogent Skills is a charity which supports companies across the science-based industries.
Cogent reinvests financial surplus from subsidiary companies which deliver a range of skills services including apprenticeship training and employment, specialist safety training for high hazard sites and assessment and awarding services. Through its charity, the company supports industry collaborations, which identify and address shared skills challenges, set standards and inspire young people to consider careers in science.
The company has been recognised as it scores highly across the full range of metrics: for example, 93 per cent of employees surveyed said they felt pride at being a Cogent Skills employee, 91 per cent said they had confidence in the organisation’s management, and 92 per cent believe Cogent cares for their wellbeing.
Cogent Skills Chief Executive Officer, Justine Fosh, said: “We’re thrilled to be named one of the best places to work in the UK for the second consecutive year. As an organisation driven by a strong sense of purpose, we’re focussed on supporting and investing in the skills for our sector – this starts with our people and this tremendous achievement is testament to the positive culture we’ve built.
“We’re also really pleased to have been recognised as a great place for women to work and this underlines our commitment to diversity, both in terms of our own organisation as well as in supporting the wider sector.
“Cogent Skills is proud to take its place among other prestigious companies on the Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2025. We take real pride in our workforce and believe that if we take care of our people, then the business and the work we do can only flourish as a result.”
