Cogent Skills welcomes the government’s plan for creating new clean energy jobs and training

We welcome the government’s plan for creating new clean energy jobs and training.
Jude Knight
Head of Skills for Clean Growth

The clean energy sector is one of the UK’s greatest opportunities to create new jobs, drive industrial growth, and meet our net zero ambitions.

Cogent Skills is proud to  help employers access the skills they need to thrive. Through the Hydrogen Skills Alliance — our partnership with NCC — we’re working with the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero to deliver the first Hydrogen and Carbon Capture Skills Accelerator.

This initiative will map critical skills gaps in the South West and North West, develop regional strategies and build the foundations of a national curriculum and training resources for hydrogen and carbon capture and storage (CCS).

This adds to our wider work in clean growth which includes:

  • Delivering the UK’s first battery manufacturing apprenticeship with RML Group , a trailblazer for future talent
  • Anticipating future skills needs in UK hydrogen and emerging energy sectors
  • Supporting the launch of Nuclear Skills Plan and convening employers across nuclear civil and defenc

We’re committed to helping employers attract, train and retain the talent they need to deliver a safe, productive and sustainable future.

We look forward to continuing our work with government, industry and educators to deliver the skills which will power the UK’s clean energy transition.
