End-point Assessment training providers

We work closely with training providers to improve apprenticeship achievement rates. If you're looking for an EPAO, speak to us
It’s a training provider’s responsibility to make certain the apprentices are registered and prepared for End-Point Assessment.
There are multiple tasks the training provider must complete in making sure EPA runs efficiently.

1. Procure SIAS service

Training providers can contact SIAS via our web page. A member of the SIAS team will contact you to discuss further and send the request for service form which must be completed to register the apprentice. It is advisable to register the apprentice early in their programme to ensure SIAS can provide information and support.

Support liaisons between SIAS and host employer

It is important for the training provider to ensure that SIAS has up-to-date contact information for the apprentice’s employer.

As SIAS acts only as the assessment organisation, the training provider should support the liaison between SIAS and the employer to arrange the EPA.

2. Prepare the apprentice for EPA

Assessment preparation material is sent out to the employers, however it is important for training providers to check with the employers whether they have received this and raise awareness of its importance with the apprentice.

Send SIAS Gateway completion evidence

Gateway is the point at which apprenticeship training has finished, the Competence Evaluation Log is signed off and the apprentice is ready for EPA.

The training provider (or employer) needs to provide SIAS with evidence of the apprentice’s appropriate English and maths qualifications, their Competence Evaluation Log and any knowledge qualification that the apprentice studied as part of their training (BTEC, HNC etc.). The specific requirements for Gateway are set out in the published Assessment Plan for each Standard.

Support the planning of assessment day

Strong communication and planning are crucial for arranging an assessment date which suits the apprentice, employer, SIAS and training provider.

Notify the ESFA that SIAS will be the End-Point Assessment Organisation via the ILR submission

Training providers will need to consider how they are going to prepare the apprentice for EPA and build this into the apprentice’s training plan. This should be discussed with the host employer as the EPA will take place in the workplace.
