New Course Launched: Introduction to Hydrogen Safety

Cogent Skills is pleased to announce the launch of its new one-day training course, Introduction to Hydrogen Safety: SIAS Level 2 Award. As hydrogen becomes an increasingly vital part of the UK’s transition to net zero, this course offers essential knowledge to support safe and effective working practices in hydrogen-related operations.

Designed in alignment with the Hydrogen Skills Framework, this course is ideal for operators, engineers, maintenance technicians, and long-term contractors currently working in or moving into the hydrogen sector. It provides a foundational understanding of hydrogen’s role in the energy transition, its properties and applications, and the critical safety considerations for its production, storage, and use.

On successful completion of a multiple-choice examination, learners will receive the SIAS Level 2 Award in the Introduction to Hydrogen Safety. This nationally recognised qualification supports workforce development and aligns with the standards set by the Hydrogen Skills Alliance.

Head of Business Operations at Cogent Skills Training, Alex Slater, said: “We are excited to launch this qualification which we have developed with the support of the UK’s Process Safety Board and strengthens our existing suite of core Process Safety Management courses. Aligning with the standards set by the Hydrogen Skills Alliance, this qualification furthers our commitment to supporting industry with its transition to a low carbon future.”

Hydrogen is a key part of the UK’s low-carbon future, and Cogent Skills is committed to ensuring that safety remains at the forefront of this transformation.
