Cogent Skills are delighted to launch a selection of new courses to its safety training catalogue. The eight new courses add to Cogent’s existing catalogue of training and consultancy solutions, designed to create a safe, competent and productive workforce.

In partnership with the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH), Cogent can now deliver the NEBOSH HSE Award in Managing Risks and Risk Assessments at Work. This course helps employers develop straightforward, practical health and safety risk management skills to control workplace.

The catalogue also now includes Incident Management Awareness – an introduction for those new to site incident management and a refresher for those already involved.

In line with Cogent’s commitment to help develop green skills for low-carbon industries, its team of experts has created the Process Safety for Managing Hydrogen course. This will give industry a greater understanding of the basics of hydrogen operations and its associated hazards, as well as create a deeper awareness of process safety specific to hydrogen.

Cogent has also launched DSEAR for Managers and DSEAR for Operators. These will reinforce responsibilities, relevant policies and procedures, risk assessments, controls and the potential consequences of failure to manage process safety for managers working in explosive atmospheres.

Cogent Skills has developed a robust online benchmarking based on the Corporate Governance for Process Safety: OECD Guidance for Senior Leaders in High Hazard Industry survey, which will help employers establish a benchmark of the awareness of process safety, (against 1,200 individual responses from more than 80 businesses in 15 industries). This can be used as a starting point for understanding where process safety awareness is needed within an organisation or where good practice exists and is a great aid for getting ready for inspection. We will also be launching Root Cause Analysis and Bow Tie training in the coming months.
