The role involves working as part of a process team to ensure operation of the rape seed Crush & Refinery depts, working to high safety, quality & efficiency standards. During the apprenticeship the incumbent will participate in a recognized training programme in Science Manufacturing along with comprehensive on-the-job training.

The role involves working as part of a process team to ensure the successful operation of the Crush and Refinery departments, working to high safety, quality and efficiency standards. During the apprenticeship the incumbent will participate in a recognized training programme in Science Manufacturing along with comprehensive on-the-job training. You will learn about the crushing and refining of rape seed and the associated oil and meal products which are then sold to many household brands. You will be exposed to mechanical equipment, automated systems and the chemistry behind the process of providing edible oils to supermarkets, restaurants and take aways as well as animal feed (meal) to the farming community.
Duties will include but not limited to:
- Train towards and prove competency in the safe and effective operation of the process equipment on the plant.
- Undertake in-process quality control checks and other analytical checks.
- Work towards and successfully complete Apprenticeship at Level 3 Science Manufacturing Technician.
- Perform front line maintenance, housekeeping and other duties as assigned to support the plant production
- Maintain all quality systems, logs and required records
- Maintain detailed training logs to support training and studies

Training Provider: Cogent Skills Training
Delivery model: Comprehensive on the job training as well as related H&S courses
FUTURE PROSPECTS
- Potential to become a Site Support Technician or Process Technician
- Starting salary £19,000 per annum rising with training with the first increase being after 12 months and further thereon based on performance. Future potential salary earnings in excess of £50,000.
THINGS TO BE CONSIDERED
- The successful candidate must be 18 years of age due to shift work
- The process environment can be a very noisy and dusty environment i.e. extensive use of PPE is mandatory across the site (safety glasses, hard hat, ear protection etc)
- Exposure to chemical systems and bulk chemical handling
- Shift pattern consistent with a 24hr – 365 day operation
- Plant personnel are exposed to changing weather conditions e.g. working outside the operational buildings
- High expectation of safety standards should be the driver for anyone working in this environment.
